At Simple Publishing, we take pride in offering creative solutions that will improve your writing and make your book more marketable, without compromising your original intentions. We offer three different levels of editing services, depending on what you want.
In a copyedit, we correct spelling, punctuation, basic grammar, subject-verb agreement, dangling modifiers, capitalization, and paragraph breaks. We do not substantially rewrite or reorganize your manuscript. The involvement with the book deals mostly with the mechanics and rules of the English language. All authors need a copyedit before having a book published.
A substantive edit includes a copyedit but with additional emphasis on clarity, organization, and flow. It includes more hands-on work with your manuscript to present a more polished, professional tone. It will reflect more changes to your work and may include some rewriting and reorganization. A substantive edit should be chosen if you feel that your manuscript needs work beyond the basic copyedit.
A comprehensive edit is a Simple Publishing specialty. We will spend extra time with you and your book to ensure that your story competes with the highest quality writing. For this to be successful, an author needs to first accept that their manuscript may not be perfect yet. There may be other viewpoints that experienced editors can provide that will further polish your manuscript into an even better work. In the end, you retain all final decisions with regard to the manuscript.
